In 1991, Dyer started to cut hair in an Eglinton barbershop.

When Dyer came to Eglinton, most barbershop’s used to close early. So he decided that he would change that, he decided that he would work until late in the night to please his clients.

Every man liked that, and because Dyer did that the barbershop was becoming a man’s hangout spot in the GTA. This change made it easier for men to come to the shop after late hours to get their hair trimmed and after work. It fit their schedule perfectly.

After a while, that trend started to sink in with most men. But some of them had wives that didn’t believe the barbershop was open so late!

The wives would then call the shop to find out if the barbershop was really open, and when they realized that it was true they recognized that it was a new thing for barbers now. Their husbands were fine, it was becoming the new wave.

Now men could come to the barbershop and talk if they were going through hard times. They could leave with a fresh trim, look better and feel better after having spoken to Dyer or another barber.

Vibrance Salon and Spa opened in 2005.

After a while of working at the barbershop on Eglinton West, Dyer opened his own store.

In his own words, he says “it was not the godliest of places”, and so he found that he could not speak bible fluently there because of all the distractions.

So Dyer prayed that he would find a place where he could feel comfortable and speak the Most High’s word.

In one month’s time a client came by and asked him if he needed a place to start his own barbershop. His prayers were answered, he felt that this man was sent to speak to him.

After a little while, he told his clients about it and most liked the idea, but some thought he was going to move too far. Nevertheless, he still took on the challenge, because he believed that the Most High was leading.

Dyer used to trim men going to parties and trim them going home from the parties too!

He would get to work at the barbershop at 8am and finish at 2am in the morning sometimes!

The barbershop now became a therapeutic spot for men to laugh, talk, de-stress and have a good time. The barbershop still is that today. But its even more highlighted at Dyer’s Vibrance Salon now.
